Muralikrishnan works on energy efficiency & climate change projects and events. He has nine years of cement industry experience, with expertise in plant operation, process engineering, pollution control, and energy conservation. He has been associated with CII for 11 years, working on energy efficiency and climate change adaption. Muralikrishnan has been involved in more than 100 detailed energy audits in India and abroad (Australia, Japan, Korea, Indonesia, Nepal, Lebanon, Ghana, Philippines, Rwanda and Zambia), over 150 training programs on energy management (energy audit, energy conservation, GreenCo rating, carbon footprint study, monitoring and verification), and more than 15 projects promoting energy efficiency and climate change reduction initiatives in various industrial sectors. He has also been instrumental in bringing out several publications, benchmarking norms, manuals, case study booklets, training programs, etc., in the Indian cement industry.

In the climate change field, he has worked with various cement companies to inventorize their Green House Gas (GHG) emissions, establish the baseline, and facilitate them in setting targets for GHG emission reduction in the near future. He has assisted about 20 companies in the cement sector for establishing their GHG emission inventory baseline, setting targets for reduction, and identifying areas for achieving the same. He helped prepare a report titled ‘Low Carbon Roadmap for Indian Cement Industry’, carrying out pilot studies in implementing this roadmap and thus facilitating GHG emission reductions.

He is also closely associated with the MSME sector, working with units and cluster associations in creating awareness, identifying opportunities through Resource Efficiency studies, facilitating implementation by creating local service providers, connecting all stakeholders, and facilitating financial assistance. Muralikrishnan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering. He is also a BEE Accredited Energy Auditor and ISO 14001 Lead Auditor.

He has also completed a certificate course at Annamalai University on Industrial Safety & Industrial Pollution Control.
