Mr. N. Gopalaratnam

Mr. N. Gopalaratnam, Chairman of Seshasayee Paper and Boards Ltd. (SPB), is a visionary leader whose career spanning over five decades has left an indelible mark on the Indian paper industry. Beginning his journey as a Management Trainee in 1969, he rose through the ranks to lead SPB as Managing Director in 1988, steering the company through challenging times and transforming it into one of India’s most respected paper manufacturers.

Under his stewardship, SPB embraced modernization, sustainability, and community welfare — from large-scale tree plantation to supporting education, healthcare, and rural development. His deep commitment to environmental stewardship led SPB’s pioneering implementation of the GreenCo framework.

Beyond SPB, Mr. Gopalaratnam has held key leadership positions as Chairman of Ponni Sugars Ltd., SPB Projects and Consultancy Ltd., and High Energy Batteries (India) Ltd., and has served as Past President of IPMA and IPPTA, and Past Chairman of PAPEREX. Known for his humility, integrity, and people-first approach, he continues to inspire generations of professionals through his vision, mentorship, and unwavering dedication to sustainable industry growth.
